Electric Vehicle Associates, Inc. was established around 1979 in Cleveland, Ohio, as a manufacturer of electric vehicles. The company focused on creating environmentally friendly transportation options during a time when interest in electric vehicles was beginning to grow.

One of the notable models produced by Electric Vehicle Associates was the EVA Metro, a four-seater electric car that utilized the body of the Renault 12 TL. The Metro was powered by a configuration of 19 six-volt batteries, enabling it to achieve a cruising speed of 55 mph (88 km/h) and a driving range of approximately 30 to 55 miles on a single charge. The vehicle was equipped with several luxury features for its time, including an automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes.

In addition to the EVA Metro, the company also developed electric-powered versions of the AMC Pacer and Pacer Wagon, known as the "Change of Pace" models. These vehicles were equipped with 15 kW traction motors, further expanding the company's offerings in the electric vehicle market.
