Electric Vehicle Concepts (E-V Concepts) was an American custom EV builder and conversion shop that traced its activity to the 1970s and remained active into the 2020s. The firm specialized in one-off electric conversions and prototype development for private clients and startups, later adding electric “E-Kit” cars, motorcycles, and marine power. Company materials described early work in southern California in the late 1970s, a move to Charlotte, North Carolina in the 1980s to be near NASCAR suppliers, and a relocation to Charleston, South Carolina in 2003, where it operated as a boutique studio offering design, fabrication, and turn-key electric driveline installations. Public pages stated that it averaged more than two electric conversions per year since 1974 and continued to commission projects for customers worldwide.
E-V Concepts documented a variety of notable projects rather than a fixed model line. These included the Rixter roadster (c. 1982); the Black Mamba concept using a Mitsubishi Eclipse donor for a Georgia startup; several Ferrari-inspired conversions; a reverse-trike motorcycle based on Fiat 500e components; and multiple yacht propulsion conversions. Company narratives also referenced racing electric conversions against gasoline cars in the 1970s. The business functioned as an artisanal workshop focused on bespoke prototypes and conversions rather than series production.
