Emerson Motorsports

Emerson Motorsports was an American builder of AC Cobra–style replicas founded by Bill Emerson in Redding, California. The business produced bespoke, low-volume cars using Emerson’s own body and chassis designs tailored primarily to Ford V-8 powertrains, selling completed vehicles by commission rather than mass-market kits. Customer cars were documented from the late 1990s onward. Output remained artisanal and very limited.

Alongside Cobra replicas, Emerson promoted the Ballista in the 2010s as an in-house American supercar project. The company presented the Ballista with supercar intent, distinct bodywork, and engineering claims positioned above the firm’s Cobra offerings. Contemporary social posts in Northern California likewise described the Ballista as an “American-made supercar” in production at Emerson’s shop between Redding and Anderson. No reliable record indicated that series production progressed beyond prototypes or promotional builds, and the model remained a concept associated with Emerson’s boutique operation.
