Elco was an American automobile brand that operated briefly from 1915 to 1917. The brand originated from the Elwood Iron Works in Elwood, Indiana, which initially planned to produce vehicles under the Bailey-Klapp name. However, the company faced bankruptcy before production could commence, leading to its acquisition by the Bimel Buggy Works, a company with a history dating back to 1844.

Under Bimel, the Elco brand was established, and the Elco Four was introduced as its primary model. This vehicle featured a conventional design powered by a 30-horsepower four-cylinder engine sourced from the Caille Engine Company, which was known for manufacturing various products, including slot machines and outboard motors. The Elco Four was available in two configurations: a two-seater roadster and a five-seater tourer, both priced at $585. Plans for a more advanced six-cylinder model were never realized.

The production of Elco vehicles was short-lived, and by May 1917, the company ceased operations. Its remaining assets, including unsold cars, were acquired by the American Motor Parts Company based in Indianapolis. The Elco brand, while not widely recognized, represents a small chapter in the early history of American automotive manufacturing.
