Dormandy was an American automobile manufacturer that operated briefly from 1903 to 1905. The company was established by Gary Dormandy, an employee of the United Shirt & Collar Company located in Troy, New York. This unique automotive venture was notable for being one of the few car manufacturers to emerge from a shirt factory.

The first vehicle produced by Dormandy was a closed limousine, which featured a design that was considered advanced for its time. This initial model was commissioned by James Knox Polk Pine, the president of the United Shirt & Collar Company. Following the success of the first car, Pine ordered two additional open touring models for his sons. These models were constructed at the nearby Troy Carriage Works and were well-received, prompting Dormandy to build a car for himself, incorporating components from Frayer-Miller.

Despite the initial success, Dormandy's production was limited, and the company ceased operations shortly after its inception. In 1913, when the first Harvard cars were being built in Troy, Dormandy was invited to collaborate with the Pioneer Motor Car Company, but he declined the offer. The Dormandy brand remains a rare example of early American automotive history, reflecting the diverse origins of automobile manufacturing in the United States.
