Dawson Manufacturing Company was established in Basic City, Virginia, and operated from 1899 to 1901. The company was notable for producing the Dawson Auto-Mobile, which was a light steam-powered vehicle. This car featured a two-cylinder engine, tiller steering, and a single-chain drive system.
The founder, Korgc Dawson, originally hailed from Cincinnati and moved to Virginia to develop his automobile. However, he was only able to complete a single unit of the Dawson Auto-Mobile due to financial constraints that hindered the production of additional vehicles. After facing these challenges, he returned to Cincinnati, having incurred losses but gaining recognition for creating the first automobile in Virginia.
