Culver was an early automobile brand established in 1905 by Practical Automobile Corporation in Aurora, Illinois. The brand was conceived by Dr. D.D. Culver, who aimed to create an ideal vehicle tailored for physicians.
The design of the Culver automobile featured a conventional high-wheeler configuration, which was characteristic of the era. It was powered by a 6-horsepower, two-cylinder engine and utilized an epicyclic transmission along with a double-chain drive system. A notable feature of the vehicle was its tilting steering column, which facilitated easier entry and exit, a practical consideration for doctors who often made house calls.
Despite the innovative design and thoughtful features, Culver was unable to bring the automobile into production, and the brand ultimately faded into obscurity.
