Country: United States

Crown Magnetic was an automobile brand that emerged in the early 20th century, specifically in 1920. It was established by the Owen Magnetic Automobile Company, which was based in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The brand aimed to market a rebadged version of the Owen Magnetic automobile in the British market.

The Crown Magnetic was notable for its unique electro-magnetic transmission system, known as the Entl transmission. In an effort to penetrate the British market, exporter J.I. Crown ordered 500 Owen Magnetic chassis to be shipped to England. These vehicles were intended to be sold through LeGricc tiers Ltd, located in London, with custom coachwork tailored to customer specifications.

However, the production of Crown Magnetics faced significant challenges. The Owen Magnetic company was unable to fulfill the large order, resulting in the completion of only a small number of vehicles, estimated to be around 20. Following this, Crown Magnetic also collaborated with Ensign Motors Ltd to produce the Crown-Ensign, which utilized the same electro-magnetic transmission technology.
