Brand Data

Company Name: Crescent Motor Co.

Place: Carthage, Ohio

Country: United States

Crescent Motor Company was established in 1913 in Carthage, Ohio, as a continuation of the Ohio automobile brand. The company was founded by Ralph Northway, who had previously sold his engine manufacturing business to General Motors. Following the brief existence of Crescent, Northway would later produce vehicles under his own name in Natick, Massachusetts.

During its short operational period, Crescent Motor Company produced two models. The first was a continuation of the earlier Ohio model, equipped with a 4.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The second model, known as the Royal, featured a larger 7.4-liter six-cylinder Northway engine. Both models were offered exclusively in touring car configurations.

Despite the initial promise, Crescent Motor Company faced challenges and ceased operations before the end of 1914, resulting in a limited production run for both models. The company’s brief existence reflected the volatile nature of the early automotive industry in the United States.
