Comet Automobile Company was an American automobile manufacturer based in Decatur, Illinois, that operated from 1917 to 1922. The company produced assembled cars typical of the era, utilizing Lewis and later Continental six-cylinder engines.

During its brief existence, Comet managed to produce several hundred vehicles, primarily selling them in the Midwest region of the United States. The company also engaged in export activities, with Belgium being a notable market for its cars. In 1921, Comet planned to introduce a line of four-cylinder vehicles; however, very few of these cars were completed before the company ceased production of its six-cylinder models later that year.

By 1922, Comet's production had effectively ended, with the remaining vehicles being unsold stock from the previous year. The company faced financial difficulties, leading to several receiverships before its final cars were sold. Despite its short lifespan, Comet Automobile Company contributed to the automotive landscape of its time.
