Classic Motors International (CMI) was an American automotive manufacturer based in Mishikawa, Indiana, with additional operations in South Bend and Hickory. The company was established around 1979 and specialized in producing high-quality replicas of classic sports cars.
One of CMI's notable achievements was the creation of an accurate replica of the Porsche 550 Spyder, a model originally produced between 1953 and 1957. The replicas were designed to closely resemble the original vehicles, with many body and trim components interchangeable with those of the authentic Porsche. CMI offered various powerplant options, including engines from the Porsche 356 and 912.
CMI's offerings included three distinct models, each varying in trim and mechanical specifications. The base model, known as the S, provided essential features, while the Cabriolet variant included a convertible top, side curtains, and additional luxury items. The top-tier Carrera model was equipped with four-wheel disc brakes and a more powerful 912 engine, catering to enthusiasts seeking enhanced performance.
