Cleveland Electric Vehicle Company was established in 1909 in Cleveland, Ohio, with the aim of producing electric taxicabs. However, the company shifted its focus and introduced a range of passenger cars instead. The production models included three distinct body styles: runabout, victoria, and coupti. These vehicles were priced between $2,250 and $2,800.
The cars were equipped with 3.5 horsepower motors and featured six forward speeds, showcasing the technological advancements of the time. The design of these vehicles was led by Raymond B. Doty, who was a descendant of Edward Doty, a passenger on the Mayflower in 1620. The Cleveland Electric Vehicle Company operated for a brief period, from 1909 to 1910, before ceasing production.
