Clark an American automobile manufacturer that operated from 1903 to 1905. Founded by A.F. Clark & Co. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the company specialized in the production of electric passenger cars and trucks, as well as associated components such as batteries, motors, and controllers.
The company developed a four-seater electric car, which was notable for its design and functionality. Additionally, Clark produced a petrol-electric vehicle equipped with a 7-horsepower engine that charged the batteries at a rate of 35 amps, increasing to 45 to 48 amps when the vehicle reached speeds of 30 miles per hour (48 km/h). The standard battery electric models achieved a top speed of 20 miles per hour (30 km/h).
Despite its innovative approach, Clark faced challenges in the market, resulting in a limited production of both electric and petrol-electric vehicles. The company later attempted to manufacture electric cars in Toledo, Ohio, and Buffalo, New York, but these efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.
