Chandler was an American automobile manufacturer that operated from 1913 to 1929, primarily based in Cleveland, Ohio. The company was established by a group of former officials from the Lozier Motor Company, and it quickly gained recognition for producing middle-priced cars that appealed to a broad market segment. The first models were introduced in 1914, with production reaching nearly 3,000 units in that initial year. Over the years, Chandler's production increased significantly, peaking at over 20,000 cars in 1926.

The brand's success was attributed to continuous improvements in vehicle design and performance, as well as effective marketing strategies. Chandler frequently advertised in prominent publications, including National Geographic, highlighting both standard models and sportier variants, such as the Dispatch touring car, which featured distinctive design elements like wire wheels and individual step plates. The company also promoted technological advancements, including the introduction of a constant mesh transmission and one-shot chassis lubrication, which enhanced the driving experience.

In 1919, Chandler expanded its lineup by introducing a lower-priced companion car named the Cleveland. This model contributed to the brand's market success until it was discontinued in 1926. Following this, the Chandler Motor Car Company was restructured as the Chandler-Cleveland Corporation. In 1927, the company introduced an eight-cylinder series alongside its existing six-cylinder models, further diversifying its offerings.

Chandler's operations came to an end when it was acquired by the Hupp Motor Car Corporation in late 1928. Hupp intended to develop a companion line of vehicles to complement its Hupmobile series. However, the plans were ultimately thwarted by the Stock Market Crash of October 1929, which precipitated the Great Depression and led to the cessation of Chandler's production.
