The California was an automobile produced by the Leach Motor Car Company, based in Los Angeles, California. It was introduced in 1923 as a smaller, more affordable companion to the larger and more expensive Leach 6-cylinder models, which had gained popularity among Hollywood stars during the silent film era.

The California featured a 4-cylinder engine designed by Harry A. Miller, who had previously created the less successful 100-horsepower engine for the Leach 999 model in 1921. The vehicle was first showcased at the Ulrey-Noccwarc Agency in Oakland, California, where it was displayed alongside other Leach models. This introduction occurred during a challenging period for Leach, as the company faced significant financial difficulties.

The California was characterized as a 5-seater touring model, appealing to a market that sought a more practical vehicle. However, the production of the Leach 6-cylinder cars was phased out later in 1923, and while California Motors, Inc. was established earlier that year and appeared to continue operations into 1925, the future of the California model itself seemed uncertain, with further production becoming unlikely.
