The California Automobile Company was established in 1910 in Los Angeles, California. The company emerged as a successor to the Auto Vehicle Company, continuing the production of 2- and 4-cylinder Tourist cars. In addition to these models, California Automobile introduced a new line of vehicles under the California name, which included models with horsepower ratings of 30, 40, and 50.
In 1910, the company announced a combined production target of 150 vehicles, encompassing both the Tourist and California models. However, the specific number of California-branded cars produced during that year remains unknown. Between 1914 and 1917, the company diversified its offerings by manufacturing the BF-ARDS1XY Electric vehicle, marking its foray into electric automotive technology.
