Blackburn Automotive Co. was an American automobile manufacturer based in Houston, Texas, that operated briefly from 1920 to 1921. The company specialized in producing a modified version of the Ford Model T, known for its enhancements in performance and design.
The Blackburn model featured an increase in power output from 20 to 23 brake horsepower, achieved through various improvements. Notably, it replaced the original Model T's epicyclic transmission with a more conventional sliding gear transmission, which aimed to enhance driving experience and reliability. The sole body style offered by Blackburn was a five-seater tourer, which was priced at approximately $400.
During its short production run, Blackburn Automotive Co. managed to sell an estimated 500 units of its vehicles. Despite its limited success, the company contributed to the automotive landscape of the early 20th century by offering an alternative to the widely popular Model T.
