Beechcraft Aircraft Company, founded in 1946 and based in Wichita, Kansas, was primarily known for its production of aircraft. However, the company also ventured into the automotive sector by developing a unique hybrid power car known as the Plainsman. This vehicle was notable for its innovative design, featuring an aircraft engine that powered four electric motors, one located at each wheel.

The Plainsman was designed as a fastback sedan with an aluminum body, showcasing the company's engineering capabilities. Despite its advanced technology and design, only two prototypes of the Plainsman were constructed, as the projected production costs were deemed too high for commercial viability.
