Ball was an early American automobile manufacturer active from 1902 to 1903, based in Middletown, Ohio. The company was founded by Charles A. Ball, who had previously constructed a steam car in 1868 in Paterson, New Jersey. However, due to local prejudice against steam vehicles, he was unable to utilize it extensively. By the early 1900s, the automotive climate had improved, allowing Ball to develop a large steam car known as the Ramapaugh.

The Ramapaugh was notable for its size and specifications, featuring an engine that produced a claimed 60 horsepower, a weight exceeding 2 tons, and an 8-seater touring body. It had a petrol capacity of 24 gallons and a water capacity of 68 gallons. Unfortunately, a tragic accident involving a small boy in April 1902 compelled Ball to leave Middletown. Following this incident, he relocated back east and sold the Ramapaugh to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

After the Ramapaugh, Ball constructed two additional vehicles that were similar in design and size. These cars were sold for $10,000 each, likely produced with the assistance of the New York Gear Works, as the credibility of their manufacture in Middletown was diminished by the negative reputation stemming from the earlier accident.
