The Baldwin Automobile Manufacturing Company was established in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, by L.F.N. Baldwin in 1899. This venture followed an earlier attempt in Rhode Island and aimed to produce automobiles during the early years of the automotive industry. The Baldwin automobile featured a design that accommodated only two passengers, reflecting the trends of the time.

Despite its innovative approach, the company faced challenges and was not particularly successful. It produced a limited number of vehicles, with only about 12 cars delivered before ceasing operations in 1901. Notably, one of these cars made its way to Hawaii, where it was purchased by Queen Liliuokalani, highlighting a unique aspect of the brand's brief history.

After several reorganizations, Baldwin returned to Providence, Rhode Island, where he shifted his focus to becoming an agent for White and Stanley steam cars, marking the end of his direct involvement in automobile manufacturing.
