Bachelle was an early American automobile manufacturer founded by Otto von Bachelle in Chicago, Illinois, during the early 1900s. The company operated from 1900 to 1903, a brief period in which it produced a limited number of electric vehicles. Bachelle, an electrical engineer, designed cars that were powered by two separate motors driving the rear wheels. The vehicles had a battery range of approximately 35 miles, which was considered modest for the time.
Despite the innovative approach to electric vehicle design, Bachelle's company struggled to sustain operations and ultimately ceased to exist in 1903, the same year it was established. Following the dissolution of his company, Otto von Bachelle continued his career in the automotive industry by working for E.R. Thomas, the manufacturer of the THOMAS Flyer.
