Astro Designs was an American automotive company based in Canoga Park, California, that operated from 1979 until approximately 1990. Initially, the company functioned as an assembly shop for Sterlings, which were the American versions of the British NOVA kit car. In addition to Sterlings, Astro Designs also assembled replicas of the Witton Tiger and the Mercedes 540K, produced by Thoroughbred Motorcars and Roaring Twenties, respectively.
In 1985, Astro Designs began to develop its own vehicle, introducing the Garrish Countach. This model was designed by Ray Garrish and featured a body based on the Sterling, enhanced with design elements from the Lamborghini Countach, including its distinctive nose, wheel flares, and spoiler. The vehicle utilized a steel tube chassis and incorporated running gear from the Cadillac Eldorado. The Garrish Countach was offered in both kit and fully assembled forms, catering to a range of customer preferences.
