Astra Motors Corporation was established in 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri, with the intention of acquiring the Dorris Motor Car Company. The company aimed to produce a companion vehicle that would complement the larger Dorris models. The Astra vehicle was first showcased at the St. Louis Auto Show in February 1920, featuring a distinctive pointed radiator and powered by a Le Roi 4-cylinder engine.
The Astra car was designed with a wheelbase of 108 inches (2741 mm) and was equipped with wire wheels. Despite the initial plans, only an estimated five to ten prototypes of the Astra were completed. Ultimately, the takeover of Dorris Motor Car Company did not materialize, and Dorris continued its operations until 1925.
