Aspen Car Company was established around 1985 in Fontana, California. The company specialized in the production of sports cars, drawing inspiration from various Porsche racing models of the 1950s. Its flagship model, the Aspen 550 RSK Spyder, combined design elements from the Porsche 550 Spyder, RS-61, and Speedster.
Initially, the Aspen 550 RSK Spyder was offered exclusively as a fully-assembled vehicle. Most of the cars produced by Aspen were built on a Volkswagen platform, utilizing a range of air-cooled or water-cooled Volkswagen engines. At the time of its operation, the company was also developing a mid-engine chassis that would accommodate a Porsche 914 engine and transmission.
