Asardo was an American automotive manufacturer established in 1959, known formally as the American Special Automotive Research & Design Corporation, based in North Bergen, New Jersey. The company focused on the development of a unique aerodynamic sports coupe that featured a tubular space frame and a fiberglass body, designed to enhance performance and efficiency.
The prototype produced by Asardo was notable for its gull-wing doors and was initially powered by an Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 engine, which was modified to a displacement of 1485cc, delivering an output of 135 brake horsepower. The vehicle also utilized an Alfa Romeo transmission and suspension components. Although only one prototype was constructed, it was later upgraded with a 3528cc Buick aluminum V8 engine, showcasing the company's commitment to performance enhancements.
Despite its innovative design and engineering, Asardo's production was limited to this single prototype, which ultimately marked the company's brief presence in the automotive industry.
