Anderson Machine Company was established in 1906 in Bedford, Indiana, primarily as a manufacturer of automobiles. The company produced a runabout model that featured solid tires and was powered by an air-cooled two-cylinder engine. This model was announced in October 1906, marking the company's entry into the automotive market.

Shortly after its announcement, in November 1906, the company was acquired by Fred Postal. Following the acquisition, Postal continued to produce vehicles, including a high-wheeler model under his own name, which indicated a shift in focus from the original Anderson brand.
