American Junior was an automobile brand produced by the American Motor Vehicle Company, based in Lafayette, Indiana, from 1916 to 1920. The company specialized in small, affordable vehicles, primarily targeting a younger audience, although it was marketed as suitable for adults as well.

The flagship model of American Junior was a compact two-seater powered by a single-cylinder Davis MotorWheel located at the rear. This design was reminiscent of later vehicles such as the Smith Flyer and Briggs & Stratton buckboards, but it featured a distinctive front bonnet. Priced at just $160, the vehicle was designed to be accessible to families, particularly appealing to children.

In addition to the Junior model, the American Motor Vehicle Company also produced a genuine buckboard powered by the Smith MotorWheel. However, the company eventually sold the design to the A.O. Smith Company, which then marketed it as the Smith Flyer. In 1918, the company expanded its offerings with a roadster model that featured a 10/12 horsepower four-cylinder engine, marketed under the name Greyhound.
