America

1911-1911

The Motor Car Company of America was established in 1911 in New York City, New York. The company is best known for producing the America 40, a low-slung automobile powered by a 40-horsepower four-cylinder engine. The America 40 was available in various body styles, including torpedo, touring, roadster, and landaulette. Notably, the vehicle featured an auxiliary 1.5-gallon fuel tank designed for emergency situations.

Shortly after the commencement of production, the design and manufacturing of the America 40 were acquired by the W.H. McIntyre Company, located in Auburn, Indiana. This company, originally known for its high-wheel vehicles, sought to expand its offerings by incorporating a standard automobile into its lineup. As a result, the America 40 was rebranded as the McIntyre Special.
