Alpha Design & Engineering was an automotive manufacturer based in Huntington Beach, California, active from 1983 to approximately 1985. The company was founded by Joe Alphabet, a noted expert on Ferrari vehicles. Alpha Design & Engineering specialized in producing the Alpha 1, a kit car designed as a replica of the Ferrari 250 GTO Series I.

The Alpha 1 was built on a Datsun 240Z chassis, which provided a reliable foundation for the replica. The project was initially developed by Eagle Manufacturing before being acquired by Alpha in 1983. Customers had the option to purchase the kit with either Datsun or Chevrolet engines, allowing for some customization in terms of performance and assembly.

Despite its short production run, the Alpha 1 represents a niche segment of the automotive market focused on replica vehicles, appealing to enthusiasts of classic sports cars.
