Bentley Boys (Overton Vehicle Overhauls) developed a family of Bentley-based recreations under the SR5 name. The range comprised four distinct builds. The SR5 Classic used rebuilt Bentley R-Type mechanical components on a lowered, stiffened chassis, with a hand-formed aluminium body over ash and marine-ply framing; it featured a fully reconditioned 4.5-litre Bentley straight-six, four-speed manual gearbox and a “Continental” axle ratio for relaxed cruising. The SR5 Turbo was based on a modified Bentley Mark VI chassis and fitted with the 6.75-litre turbocharged, fuel-injected V8 as used in the Turbo R. The SR5 R adopted a V8 with three-speed automatic transmission, fully independent suspension and disc brakes all round; it was presented as a fast-touring model with a quoted top speed “comfortably in excess” of about 130 mph. A Supercharged variant—shown testing at Silverstone—rounded out the catalogue. The SR5 series was built in small numbers as bespoke roadsters by Overton in Essex and sat alongside the firm’s Rolls-Royce/Bentley restoration and service work.
