Brand Data

Company Name: John Ziemba Restoration

Country: United Kingdom

The JZR was a British three-wheeled kit car introduced in 1989 by John Ziemba in Darwen, Lancashire. Its name derived from his workshop, John Ziemba Restoration (JZR), which manufactured the kits. Styled in the tradition of Morgan three-wheelers, the JZR featured a tubular steel chassis with lightweight bodywork and was typically powered by motorcycle engines, most commonly the Honda CX500/CX650 or Moto Guzzi V-twins. Other powerplants were also used by builders, reflecting the flexibility of the design. With its two front wheels, single driven rear wheel, and open cockpit, the JZR provided an affordable and distinctive sports car experience within the British kit car market.

Production of JZR kits continued through the 1990s, with several hundred examples sold. When large-scale kit production ended, John Ziemba continued to supply spares and chassis to enthusiasts, ensuring ongoing support for owners. To help preserve the cars, the JZR Pilots’ Association (JZRPA) was established in the early 1990s, providing technical advice, parts networks, and organizing events. Through Ziemba’s efforts and the association’s community, the JZR has remained a recognizable and enduring part of Britain’s three-wheeler and kit car scene.
