Imperial Motor Company was a British specialist coachbuilder producing bespoke wedding cars. The firm was led by designer John Barlow, who had over three decades of experience in building custom vehicles. Its most notable models included the Imperial, Regent, Windsor, and Royale, culminating in the Viscount, introduced in the mid-2010s. The Viscount was developed using the TX series London Taxi as a base, benefiting from a longer wheelbase and wider rear axle. Compared to the earlier Imperial model, it featured significant revisions such as a longer aluminium bonnet, lower roofline, wind-up windows in all four doors, additional luggage capacity, and improved driver comfort with more legroom and modern heating and demisting equipment.
The company’s vehicles were primarily marketed for the chauffeur and wedding hire industry, emphasizing period styling combined with modern mechanical reliability.
