GKD Sports Cars was a British low-volume manufacturer of kit cars, founded in 2004 by Peter Lathrope. From 2006 it produced the GKD Evolution, a redesigned and updated development of the Ginetta G27. The Evolution featured revised styling, a reinforced chassis, and BMW 3 Series donor mechanicals, and it won Which Kit Car’s Car of the Year award in 2006.
In 2008 the company introduced the GKD Legend, a Lotus Seven–style roadster also based on BMW components. It was available in both four-cylinder and six-cylinder variants, the latter marketed as the Legend Six to accommodate larger engines. Production remained modest in scale, but the Evolution and Legend established GKD within the British kit-car sector as robust, BMW-based sports cars tailored for both road and track use.
