Gilchrist Cars Ltd was a British automobile manufacturer based in Govan, Glasgow, operational from 1920 to 1923. The company was founded by Sam Gilchrist, who previously worked for commercial vehicle builders Caledon. With financial backing from his brother, a colliery owner, Gilchrist established his own car manufacturing venture.

The vehicles produced by Gilchrist were conventional tourers, featuring an overhead valve version of the 1550cc Hotchkiss engine, which was also utilized by the well-known manufacturer William Morris. The company primarily offered various body styles, with Sim & Wilson of Cathcart, Glasgow, responsible for the majority of the four-seater tourer designs.

Despite the initial promise, Gilchrist Cars Ltd faced significant challenges. By the time approximately 20 cars had been produced, financial difficulties arose when Gilchrist's brother withdrew his support to address the economic pressures on his strike-affected colliery. Ultimately, the company struggled to compete against larger manufacturers like Morris, leading to its decline and eventual cessation of operations.
