Exceed Autocraft Ltd was a British specialist kit-car firm that, from around 2011, held licensed rights from Aeon Sportscars to produce both the Epona and the GT2 models. The Epona had been conceived by Garry Gooderham and was presented by Aeon at a trade fair in 2009; it was a lightweight front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car intended to be available as either a coupe or a roadster. Despite the presentation, Aeon never moved it into production, but Exceed Autocraft undertook efforts to develop it further after securing the production license. The GT2 was one of Aeon’s earlier designs, originally introduced in 2011 as a two-seat conventional-coupe version of the earlier GT3. Exceed Autocraft relayed it to revival, showcasing the GT2 (and GT3) under their stewardship at the 2011 Newark Kit Car Show. Exceed Autocraft’s involvement did not mean they originated the Epona’s design—they acted as a licensee and developer on behalf of Aeon. Though they attempted to bring the Epona to market, it remained in the prototype or pre-production phase.
