Paul Emery Cars Ltd was established in 1964 in Fulham, London, by Paul Emery, who was recognized for his innovative approach to automotive design. The company specialized in the construction of racing cars, notably producing vehicles known as Emerysons, which competed in the first four World Championship formulae, making Emery one of the few constructors alongside Ferrari to achieve this.
In addition to racing cars, Emery was involved in two production car projects during the same year. The first was the Dart, an aluminum coupe built on a Minivan floorpan, which featured a longer wheelbase than the Mini. This concept later influenced the development of the Mini-Marcos and the Mini-Jem.
The second production effort was the Emery GT, a mid-engined grand touring coupe that utilized a spaceframe chassis, all-independent suspension, and components from the Hillman Imp. The prototype of the Emery GT was notable for its aluminum body and achieved considerable success in racing. However, the three production models were constructed with fiberglass bodies bonded to the spaceframe. Production of the Emery GT ultimately ceased following the death of Emery's financial backer, marking the end of the company's ventures in automotive manufacturing.
