H.T. Dawson & Son was an early British automotive manufacturer founded in 1900 by Henry Thomas Dawson in Clapham, London. Initially, the company focused on building stationary gas engines in partnership with Paris Singer. However, a disagreement between the two partners led to the dissolution of their collaboration, with Singer subsequently establishing his own company to produce the Paris Singer car.

Following this split, Dawson relocated to Canterbury, Kent, where he and his son, also named Henry, began developing a series of experimental automobiles. Their efforts culminated in 1903 when the younger Henry Dawson partnered with Henry Pavillet to create the Canterbury car. This marked a significant step in the evolution of the company, transitioning from engine manufacturing to automobile production.
