Cumbria

Cumbria Motors Ltd was a British automobile manufacturer based in Cockermouth, Cumberland, active between 1913 and 1914. It was notable for being the only known car maker in the county of Cumberland, although the Pratchitt steam wagon was produced in Carlisle.

The company offered a unique vehicle known as the monocar, which was a single-seater design, alongside the more conventional two-seater model. The monocar was equipped with a 6/8 horsepower air-cooled V-twin engine sourced from J.A.P., featuring a belt final drive. In contrast, the two-seater variant utilized an 8/10 horsepower engine, also from J.A.P., and employed a chain drive system.

In 1914, Cumbria Motors expanded its offerings to include an 8.3 horsepower four-cylinder light car that utilized a shaft drive. Despite its brief existence, Cumbria Motors contributed to the early automotive landscape in the region.
