Conan Cars was a British automotive manufacturer based in Manchester, Lancashire, that operated between 1986 and 1988. The company focused on producing a replica of the Lamborghini Countach, known as the Conan Terminator.
The design of the Conan Terminator featured a space frame chassis, which was reportedly based on the backbone of a Lotus Esprit. However, the engineering of this chassis was criticized for its awkwardness. The vehicle was equipped with fibreglass body panels, which were claimed to have been sourced from a genuine Lamborghini, but the quality of these panels was considered subpar.
In terms of performance, the Conan Terminator utilized a mid-mounted Rover V8 engine, paired with a Volkswagen Beetle transmission. There was also an option for a Volkswagen Beetle engine, which raised questions about the credibility of the vehicle's specifications. Overall, Conan Cars' attempt to replicate a high-performance sports car faced significant challenges, leading to its short-lived existence in the automotive market.
