Baines Ltd was a British manufacturer based in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, that initially focused on bicycle production. Established in 1886, the company ventured into the automotive industry in 1900 by announcing a light car designed to be powered by a 2.5 hp De Dion-Bouton engine. This vehicle featured a steel tube frame and a belt drive system, showcasing the company's innovative approach to car design.
The car was designed by F.L. Baines, who had previously collaborated with R.M. Wright on the GODIVA and STONEBOW cars. Despite the announcement and a quoted price of £100, Baines Ltd never commenced production of the vehicle, and the project ultimately did not materialize.
