The design of the 100E bore a resemblance to the Renault Espace, although it featured a smaller glassfibre body with only two doors and a hatchback.
The A.V.T. 100E utilized a square-section steel chassis that incorporated many mechanical components from the Rover 100, including the front subframe, suspension, steering, brakes, and transmission, which featured a semi-automatic clutch. The vehicle was equipped with a standard front-mounted series-wound motor rated at 14.66 kilowatts, with an optional disc motor available. The 100E was reported to achieve a top speed of 100 mph (160 km/h) and offered a driving range of up to 80 miles (128 km) on a single charge.
