Atkinson & Philipson was a coachbuilding company based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England. Founded in 1774, it was one of the oldest-established coachbuilders in the north-east of England. The company initially specialized in constructing mail coaches and, during the early 19th century, railway carriages for the notable engineer George Stephenson.

In 1896, Atkinson & Philipson ventured into the automotive industry by advertising a steam brake equipped with iron-shod tires. However, this product did not achieve commercial success, with few, if any, units sold. The company's long history in coachbuilding reflects the evolution of transportation in England from horse-drawn vehicles to early motorized solutions.
