Abingdon was a British automobile brand active between 1902 and 1903, produced by John Child Meredith Ltd, a company based in Birmingham known primarily for manufacturing ignition equipment and accessories. During its brief existence, Abingdon offered two distinct car models.
The first model, named the Abingdon, was a voiturette powered by a single-cylinder engine that produced 3.5 horsepower. It featured a 2-speed gearbox and a single chain drive. The vehicle was named after its distributor, Coxeter & Sons, located in Abingdon, Berkshire.
The second model produced by the company was the Meredith, a larger vehicle designed as a 4-seater tonneau. This model was equipped with a more powerful 2-cylinder engine that generated 9 horsepower. Despite the limited production period, both models reflect the early automotive innovations of the early 20th century.
