Coventry Cars was a South African automotive manufacturer based in Pietermaritzburg, active during the 1990s. The company specialized in producing vehicles that were inspired by classic designs, notably the Lotus 7. Their flagship model, the ITic Coventry Clastic, featured a design that was longer, wider, and taller than the original Lotus 7, catering to a different market segment while maintaining a similar aesthetic.
The Coventry Clastic was powered by locally manufactured Ford 1600 Kent engines, which contributed to its performance and appeal. In addition to the Clastic, Coventry Cars also offered the British ROTRAX and a Jeep CJ lookalike, which were equipped with Ford engines ranging from 2 to 3 liters. The company aimed to provide a blend of classic styling and local engineering, reflecting the automotive trends of the time in South Africa.
