Brand Data

Company Name: American Automobile Co.

Place: New York, New York

Country: United States

The American Automobile Company was established in 1899 in New York City, New York, and operated until 1901. It was founded by J. Frank Duryea, who was notable for his work in the early automotive industry. The company is recognized for producing a four-seater automobile powered by a three-cylinder engine, which marked Duryea's first independent design after his departure from his brother Charles Duryea's company.

Although the company was based in New York, the exact location of its factory remains unknown. It is believed that Duryea developed the vehicle near his home in New England, which may have served as a makeshift factory. In 1900, J. Frank Duryea left the American Automobile Company to pursue other ventures, including the Hampden and later the Stevens-Duryea brands.

Following Duryea's departure, the American Automobile Company transitioned into the United Power Vehicle Company. This new entity expanded its offerings to include a wide range of vehicles under the name United Power.
