Izera was a planned Polish electric car brand created in 2016 by ElectroMobility Poland (EMP), a state-backed consortium originally established by four major Polish energy utilities. The brand was unveiled in July 2020 with two prototypes—a compact hatchback and a compact SUV—styled by Torino Design of Italy under the guidance of former Jaguar designer Tadeusz Jelec. The vehicles were intended for the European C-segment, with projected ranges of around 400–450 km and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 8 seconds. EMP announced that production would take place in a new factory at Jaworzno, Silesia, with Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform licensed as the technical basis.
Izera’s stated goal was to localize up to 60 percent of its supply chain and produce 25,000–100,000 units annually, beginning by the mid-2020s. However, the project faced chronic delays, underfunding, and weak institutional support. By 2023, the Polish Supreme Audit Office reported that only 4 percent of scheduled milestones had been achieved. On 17 December 2024 the government formally terminated the Izera program, redirecting EMP to function instead as an “electromobility hub” to support international automotive partners and component suppliers. No Izera vehicles reached series production.
