Brand Data

Company Name: Fermi SA

Place: Treviso

Country: Italy

Fermi SA was an Italian automobile manufacturer based in Treviso, operational from 1947 to 1949. The company focused on producing small cars during the post-World War II era, a time when the automotive market was evolving rapidly in Italy.

One of the notable models produced by Fermi was the Lucertola, which was showcased at the 1948 Padua and 1949 Milan automobile shows. The Lucertola was designed to resemble larger vehicles, particularly emulating the style of contemporary Chrysler convertibles. Despite its ambitious design, the car was equipped with a modest 358cc four-cylinder engine that generated only 14 horsepower, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 50 mph (80 km/h).

Fermi had plans to introduce a more powerful version of the Lucertola with a 650cc engine; however, these plans did not materialize, and the company ceased operations shortly after its inception. The brief existence of Fermi SA highlighted the challenges faced by small manufacturers in the competitive automotive landscape of the late 1940s.
