Conrero was an Italian sports car manufacturer founded by Virgilio Conrero in Moncalieri, Turin, during the early 1950s. The brand operated from 1951 to 1961 and emerged from Conrero's background as an established engine tuner. Prior to creating his own marque, he gained recognition for his work in enhancing the performance of various vehicles.
Initially, Conrero focused on building Formula Junior racing cars, which featured bodywork designed by renowned Italian coachbuilder Michelotti. This venture allowed him to showcase his engineering skills and establish a reputation in the competitive racing scene. In addition to racing cars, Conrero also developed road cars, primarily based on Alfa Romeo models. These vehicles were notable for their enhanced engine outputs, reflecting Conrero's expertise in tuning and performance modifications.
As the brand evolved, Conrero shifted his preference towards using OSCA engines in his vehicles, further diversifying the performance characteristics of his cars. Despite its relatively short existence, Conrero contributed to the Italian automotive landscape during the post-war era, particularly in the realm of sports and racing cars.
