Alfa Romeo is an Italian automobile manufacturer founded in 1907 as Anonima Lombards Fabbricazione Automobile in Novara, Italy. The company was established to produce automobiles, and although its name was similar to that of Alfa Romeo's predecessor, there was no direct connection between the two entities.
The early models produced by Alfa were notable for their innovative engineering. One such example was a rare steam car featuring a verdeal double-acting 4-cylinder engine mounted at the front under a bonnet, with a final drive by shaft. A prototype of this steam car was developed by Olivari & Duse of Milan, although it remains unclear whether any units were sold to the public.
Alfa Romeo has since evolved into a prominent name in the automotive industry, known for its contributions to both performance and design in the automotive sector.
