The Ikarus Scolo was a unique one-off prototype built by Ikarus between 1997 and 2000. Only a single vehicle was constructed, largely from salvaged parts: its engine and gearbox came from scrapped vehicles, the rear window was made of plexiglass, and it used bus seats and side windows. After the closure of the Budapest Ikarus facility, the vehicle was transferred to Székesfehérvár, where it was used by local security staff. Following an engine failure, it was stored in a warehouse. When the Székesfehérvár plant was later shut down, the Scolo was sold to its current owner for little more than scrap value. It is now located in a village by Lake Balaton. A photograph taken about nine years ago showed it still in working order, though the absence of registration documents makes its return to the road virtually impossible.
